Building Thriving Research Teams – CRIS

Join the Centre for Research & Innovation Support (CRIS) for a virtual workshop engaging faculty with approaches and strategies to lead inclusive research teams that thrive.
Within equity, diversity and inclusion work, much focus has been placed on creating diverse teams with less attention to intentionally fostering inclusion and a sense of belonging for all team members. As both managers and mentors, faculty shape the very culture of the teams they lead. When faculty develop awareness of equitable and inclusive team practices, of their team’s current dynamics, and of the influence of their own leadership on their teams, they can become intentional about building a thriving research team based on feasible goals and actionable strategies.
This interactive peer-to-peer session will engage faculty with team leadership reflection, approaches and strategies to foster research environments where inquiry and belonging can work together. The session will begin with a faculty peer panel sharing experiences of building self-awareness as a leader and sharing strategies for establishing new leadership approaches and practices to build more inclusive and thriving research teams. An interactive workshop will follow, where participants will collaborate to chart a course for leading their own unique teams to thrive.
